It’s been a bit of a slow week, but that happens sometimes. We did
have a few really cool experiences though. First of all, we started
teaching a really cool investigator. She lives
with her cousin and aunt, who have been less-active for a while, but
they all three started coming to church a few weeks ago. Last week, we
had dinner with our ward mission leader, Bro. Dunn, and he invited the
family over. He invited them to start taking the lessons from us, and
they accepted. This week we taught them at the Dunn’s and they all
received it very well. They could feel and recognize the Holy Ghost’s
presence. This week, they came to church again, and the investigator
had read what we had asked her to read.
I love finding people like that because it strengthens my testimony
that people are prepared for us. In a few weeks, I went from not
knowing who this family was to teaching them and them being receptive
to the Spirit. All it took was a few simple invitations to get them to
learn/relearn about the Gospel.
We also found a really cool person while visiting a less-active. We stopped by to see her and her friend
happened to be there. She loved what we taught and wants to be there
the next time we stop by.
On Saturday, we visited another of our investigators.
We’ve been teaching him for a long time, but he’s never made any
progression. This week though, he mentioned that he had tried reading
the Book of Mormon a few times and that he has read from the teachings
of the prophet Spencer W. Kimball manual (his late wife was a member).
He loves having us come over, and it was exciting to see this little
spark of interest come in.
Church was great too! We had a less-active come that
hasn’t been to church in who knows how long. Before Monday, I didn’t
even know he existed. We had dinner with his parents on Monday, and he
was there. At dinner, he told us that he believes everything, but he’s
too restless to sit through the meetings. He said that it was torture
for him as a kid. We told him that he should try coming, even if it
was only for the first 20 or 30 minutes of Sacrament Meeting, and he
came for all three hours! Again, there are people out there who are
ready, but we just don’t know about them.
So even though we had a rough week as far as numbers or outward
measures go, I felt like it was really successful.
I love you all!
